The challenge

As Barton Petroleum’s business grew, the company proactively explored ways to maintain a consistent headcount even as volumes increased year on year. They needed a solution that could streamline processes, improve performance, and maintain the high level of customer service they are known for.

“In the previous manual system, with one depot operating 10 vehicles and 10 drivers, we could have more than 200 or 300 tickets each day that had to be manually entered into the system and processed. Now it is all done electronically. FleetGO has reduced our admin time for stock reconciliation from four to five hours down to just one hour. That gives our office staff more time to focus on other tasks, including making sales calls.”

The solution

In 2011, Barton Petroleum introduced FleetGO’s Meter Tracking system and moved to the full Onboard Stock Control system in 2022. Since implementing FleetGO, Barton Petroleum has experienced a wide range of benefits, including improved route management, significant reductions in administrative workload, and greater visibility into stock levels and operational activities across the business.

The results

In addition to streamlining Barton Petroleum’s day-to-day distribution activities and order management, FleetGO has also helped improve driver satisfaction and productivity. Drivers originally carried out their daily 38-point vehicle check manually. With the introduction of FleetGO, daily vehicle inspections are now completed electronically on the tablet and submitted instantly to the office, with any defects flagged directly to the relevant person.

In support of Barton Petroleum’s commitment to delivering exceptional customer service, FleetGO has also created new opportunities to improve service levels and operational efficiency. Work assignments can now be transmitted seamlessly and immediately to drivers through the FleetGO tablet system.

The FleetGO team worked closely with Barton Petroleum throughout the installation process. Once the system configuration was finalised, the rollout was carried out across the depots according to a structured implementation plan.
